Bring holiday cheer to Filipino American seniors in need. Please contribute or help out Dec. 20.

Last year we distributed more than 100 gift baskets to isolated Filipino American seniors. This year, our target is to assemble 150 baskets for Filipino American senior citizens in need.

The baskets will be filled with winter items such as glove, hats, scarves, blankets, socks and thermal underwear. We will also fill the baskets with toiletries such as soap lotion, toothpaste, shampoo, band aid, q-tips — as well as canned goods, fresh fruit, a bag of rice and a first aid kit.

Please help us by donating some of the items mentioned above or by giving cash donations so we can purchase the basket items. If you wish to donate or volunteer, please contact Portia Guerin at psguerin@yahoo.com.

Your donation is tax-deductible, and 100% of your cash donations will go toward the purchase of the holiday gift basket items.Checks should be made out to FILIPINO AMERICAN NETWORK.

We will distribute the gift bags to the seniors attending the Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago’s Annual Senior’s Party on December 20, 2008, at the Rizal Center.

Poker Tournament Fundraiser at Grace O’Malley’s

You’re invited to an exclusive night of Las Vegas-style poker tournament, with professional dealers and casino-style poker tables. Join us for a lot of fun and a great cause, at the new South Loop hot spot Grace O’Malley’s, on Dec. 13th from 1pm -2am!

FAN is hosting this poker tournament to benefit BELIEVE International, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides education to disadvantaged youth in the Philippines while teaching them leadership skills to, one day, help alleviate poverty and make a difference in the Philippines. There will be 2 tournaments and cash games running throughout the event.
Tournament 1: $50 buy in, $5 registration fee
Tournament 2: $100 buy in, $10 registration fee

All buy-in money goes toward the tournament prize. There will be professional dealers and casino poker tables.
